Urbandub’s going to launch their new album at Saguijo on November 25, Friday. However, the bar’s site, www.saguijo.com, indicated TBA (to be arranged). I only saw Urbandub perform live once at the defunct Peligro a year ago but I wasn’t much of a fan then. I was impressed with their guitar riffs but found myself comparing them to 311 and incubus. However, what made me like them are the lyrics of their songs. I consider "A New Tattoo" as the best "torture" song for me. I am sure my brothers would like to see them live too… Kaya lang bakit Friday? Why not make it Saturday? Magleave na lang kaya ako?

Also launching their new album this month is Ciudad. The launching is set on November 18, also a Friday, still at Saguijo… and about four bands will be sharing the stage with them. Bakit Friday na naman? Hay…

Pahabol, Sugarfree’s going to play at Saguijo again on Nov. 26 for the AdmitOne production’s 5th year celeb.

Some other stuffs Ive learned from music forums, BMG and Jam 88.3 are reportedly planning to come up with an album featuring different bands doing e-heads song covers. The album is sort of a tribute to e-heads, who could have been celebrating their tenth year in the industry if they did not disband in 1999. Orange and Lemons will do a cover of my favorite - "Huwag Kang Matakot." (yey!) Sugarfree’s going to do "Tikman."

On movies, if you are interested to see "Il Postino" (The Postman) for free, you may watch it on November 8 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. There are two viewing schedules - 4pm and 7pm.

DL galore

Wah, internet connection at home takes a lifetime… but the good thing is downloading mp3s doesn’t take that long. Finally, i can have a dose of coral sky… aqualung… However, i cant just DL and DL. I must find a way to temporarily store these files in some online host.

I highly recommend aqualung… Their songs can get you hooked. Aside from Brighter than Sunshine, I like their Strange and Beautiful (from the movie Wicker Park). "Ive been secretly falling apart… To me, you’re strange and beautiful. You turn every head but you don’t see me… I’ll put a spell on you before you sleep. I’ll put a spell on you when you wake up I’ll be the first thing you’ll see and you’ll realize you love me too."

This is all for now… I have to hit the sack now.

I suddenly remembered this Halloween movie I watched when I was still around 13 or 14 years old - HOCUS POCUS. The movie starred Bette Midler and Sarah Jessica Parker and I really liked it because it was funny and at the same time gave me a little scare. I wish I could find a copy of this movie.

The other movie about witches that I really liked is Practical Magic, which starred Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock. The movie is based on Alice Hoffmann’s novel of the same title. When they were still kids, Sandra cast a spell to protect herself from love. She described someone whom she thought never existed… but of course, she was wrong…

I also want to watch The Witches of Eastwick again. This one starred Michelle Pffeifer, Cher, and Susan Sarandon as well as Jack Nicholson (i think as the devil).

Aside from movie, I remember this Christopher Pike novel, “The Witch.” Pike writes books that have a touch of sci-fi, suspense, thriller… In “The Witch,” the main character came from a family of good witches. She was warned by her aunties never to look on a body of water during full moon but one time, she accidentally looked into a lake during a full moon season. As a witch pala, she has the power to see the future if she looks into a body of water kung full moon. The future she saw - a guy she’ll meet will die in a convenience store hold-up incident. Because she desperately wanted to save the guy’s life, she endangered her guy bestfriend’s life. In the end… I won’t give the ending…

The other Pike novel I like is “The Midnight Club.” It is a group of young people with terminal diseases who are confined in an institution. Every night they meet to share a story.
