On Saturday, I was able to see "Russian Dolls" by French filmmaker Cedric Klapisch. The said movie is the sequel of "The Spanish Apartment," so Romain Duris returns to the screen as Xavier. No longer a French student in Barcelona… and is turning 30 soon, Xavier is still looking for himself. Yes, he does work as a writer but he is not exactly writing what he dreams of writing (i know that sounds redundant). And he also has to deal with love. Love… love… love. Well, no one seems to get away from it. The movie actually hit on finding love… the one whom we think we can spend our life with forever. And the process of getting to the ONE was likened to the so-called Russian toy dolls. You have to get through a lot of people first and you have to get through a lot of "is he/she finally the one?" before you really get to the one.
I also like the part wherein he talked about dealing with ideals while walking on the supposed to be perfect street in Russia, where everything is exactly 25 meters…
And Wendy’s line when she was bidding Xavier goodbye at a Russian train station… and the ending. Who doesn’t like happy endings anyway?
Russian Dolls can be seen at Shangri-La Mall as part of the Cine Europa 9. The best part is that you won’t need to pay a single cent to watch well-made European films such as Russian Dolls. Cine Europa 9 runs through November 19. For the schedule, visit http://www.delphl.cec.eu.int. Well, I hope next weekend I’ll see Spain’s Things That Make Life Worth Living.
Another boring weekend…
And it’s all in how you mix the two
And it starts just where the light exists
It’s a feeling that you cannot miss
It burns a hole through everyone that feels it
Well you’re never gonna find it
If you’re looking for it
Won’t come your way

Why is it that when you look for something… that something becomes more elusive? This is another thing that doesnt really have any concrete explanation… and will only leave you saying because that’s the way it is.
It doesnt exactly bother me… but then at times I find myself being bothered by something that is really trivial. I guess this is the reason why I think my weekend sucks because… I just stay at home… and sleep… and do sideline work… and watch crappy TV shows (imagine, I finished watching An American Werewolf in London on S23 because I dont have a choice… and then SOP). Even if I really, really want to go to Manila and meet with Rosary, suddenly I find myself choosing the cheap but boring alternative… and then postpone the get-together with Rosary. Yeah, my weekends really suck. It even sucks when you find your house crowded with the weekend visitors. Okay, i have to shut up now… Anyway, I am supposed to do more important stuffs than update this blog but I am too lazy. I am procrastinating again…
The no-work day yesterday was spent cleaning and sorting out stuffs… and eating and eating… and sleeping and sleeping.
As soon as I am done with breakfast, I did the much-needed cleaning of our room. Rummaged through old stuffs and threw some that are no longer useful. I found the certificates I had received back in college, my classcards in college and CTP, old articles… and thoughts and whatnots that I wrote on scratch papers. Then sorted out the CDs that my nephew kept on rearranging and misplacing anywhere. Next time, I should really sort out pictures and then make a scrapbook chronicling my life and the travels I did. The question is when will I finally get too diligent enough to make a scrapbook.
Today, we had our sportsfest at school. I enjoyed joining several events, especially the ala-Amazing Race game. Hargh, the last event I joined was fill the pail… which left me soaking. Hay… Mukhang our team will finish third.
