in memory

January 19th, 2009 by boredomkills

I could have stayed longer and shared stories about their brother. But I didn’t because I was uncomfortable around strangers and I don’t have special stories to tell. He was a quiet student. Though his classmates frequently teased him for being quiet, he didn’t say anything bad nor reacted negatively. He didn’t bother to join in any commotion or mischief that his classmates carried out. He was like cut off to the wackiness and unruliness of people his age… like he genuinely enjoys being alone, unpopular, and detached from his classmates.

I feel that Leonard’s siblings and mother want to hear a story about their brother and his son to remember him well. To be reassured that somehow their brother/his son lived well, even for a short time. Like everyone else, maybe they fear that they might forget how he was when he was still alive. They fear that they might not have enough memories of him to hold on to. Maybe that’s why in a funeral we try our best to remember something good about the one who passed away.

In memory of Leonard Kevin de Aro (18yo), may he rest in peace.

yey, isang tulog na lang

December 18th, 2008 by boredomkills

The past few weeks have been laden with get togethers, office stuff, and the company christmas party. I don’t mind going to or organizing get togethers… it’s the holiday traffic (i am referring to both vehicle and human traffic) that annoys me. The malls are always crowded with people doing their last-minute gift buying (for their christmas parties perhaps). Oh well, isang tulog na lang at I am officially on vacation.

Tapos na yung company christmas party — I came as Audrey Hepburn, ate Olive in her Madonna/Cyndi Lauper costume, Kuya Rey channeling James Dean, Bel in her 70s outfit, and Sherwin as a 70s Vietnam War correspondent.  Bukas exclusive DOcs Team christmas party — sosyal ang handa, we’ll all pretend to be some elitists and gourmands. Isang araw lang naman na pagkukunwari. It’s a nice way to end the year.

hmmm… walang titulo

Mas mabilis pa magcheck ng friendster via my mobile phone than renting at Netopia. :( wala nag-uubos lang ng oras while waiting for Ate Olive. Wala akong kwento. hehe.

I could indulge in so many DVD marathons and spend more time at home, read books).

Speaking of books, I recently went on book shopping (kaya dapat magsimula na ulit ako magbasa). Thanks to avalon.ph, I got these books at affordable prices — Jose Saramago’s All The Names, Niccolo Machiavelli’s The Prince, Alice Hoffman’s The Probable Future, Jon Fasman’s The Geographer’s Library, and Kurt Vonnegut’s Timequake.

Anyway, this year’s Christmas Party theme is traveling back to the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s. At least this year, I can really just sit back and relax (last year, I was part of the Christmas Party committee).

Kung may extra, gusto kong bumiyahe somewhere before the year ends. Bakit matagal ang oras pag walang kang ginagawa?

wala na akong maisip.

disintegration

It’s easy to get lost somewhere. And my train of thoughts disintegrated… Next time, I’ll gather my thoughts and write it down.

cant think of any

I just browsed through my nephew’s friendster profile and I can’t help but smile looking at his pictures. Joaqui used to be a little chubby when he was only a one-year-old boy. Now, he is not that chubby but still heavy. He is quite taller now. This school opening, he will be starting school and he is quite excited. He has already thought of the things he wants to do at school. And Joaqui does talk a lot now he is four years old. He is a such a joy to be with. My weekends are never boring with my nephew and my little bro at home. We usually kill time watching movies and bumming around.

I am so excited for June to come as I am up for another adventure. This time, it will be with Fides and ate Olive. I’ll surely miss having Rosary as my travel buddy but she’s off to a bigger adventure.

late post

Sometimes when Jen, Rosary, and I were heading to the Forum-Dimensions office at Quezon Hall, someone would suddenly call out our names, Nang (short for Manang — the Hiligaynon translation of Ate). It was Cedric with his boyish grin on his face. To most girls in the university then, he was the king of their hearts and the boy of their dreams. To us, he was cedrico, our designated driver and cartoonist… Jen’s pseudo-little brother and Roselyn’s ex-classmate.

<

He looked carefree and seemed goofy. Truth is, he is protective of his sisters, extremely loyal to his girlfriend, and never complained if his pseudo- Manangs would always bother him.

Eight years ago, he jokingly described himself as Lawyer, Doctor of Philosophy, Artist, etcetera. Now, he can proudly say he is a lawyer. Congratulations, Atty. Cedric S. Jaranilla!

I have turned one year at Teloworks today (April 2). So far, so good with my current job.

And days ago, the first batch of my students graduated from high school. I hope they’ll do well in college.

Wala lang, you will just discover something unexpected sometimes.

kay natak-an ako

December 26th, 2007 by boredomkills

I am just cooling my head down for a while… that’s why I am wasting
some minutes online. Hay, I am just frustrated that Mama couldn’t wait
for me where we agreed to meet. so I went around looking for her at
three salons where she could have her pedicure… I wasn’t so lucky. It
just left me irked, really irked that I kept on texting my ate. I don’t know where she had gone to… so I am just going home (or I might try checking the salons out, maybe she went back or what) after this. Hay, why can’t people follow a simple instruction?
